What can Claude actually do once Dovey is connected?

Everything the web app does, because both run on the same API. It can read and update your brand kit, scrape your website, browse and upload style references, generate ad creatives, rewrite or move the text on a creative, duplicate a variant, and export a finished PNG. Generating costs one credit per variant. Text edits, chatting, and exporting are free.

Can Claude spend my money or cancel my plan?

No. Billing is deliberately not part of the connector. No agent can start a checkout, change a plan, cancel a subscription, or create an API key, and that boundary is enforced by a test rather than by convention. Generating creatives spends credits you have already bought, which is the only way a connector can cost you anything.

How do I disconnect it?

Open your Dovey profile. Every connection is listed under Connections with the date it was last used, and Revoke cuts it off immediately. Removing the connector inside Claude works too.

Does this work with ChatGPT or Claude Code?

Yes to both, with the same URL. Claude Code adds it with the /mcp command and runs the same sign in. ChatGPT can use it once developer mode is enabled in Settings, under Apps and Connectors, Advanced. Any client that speaks MCP over HTTP will work.

Do I need an API key?

No. Claude signs you in with your normal Dovey account through a standard OAuth flow, so there is no key to copy or store. Scripts and other tools can still use a dov_live_ key if you prefer that.

Do I need a paid Dovey plan?

Yes. Generating creatives spends credits, and credits come with a plan. The trial is $1 for 3 days, which is enough to connect and make real ads before deciding.

How do you add Dovey to Claude?

Open Claude's connector settings
In Claude, open Settings and go to Connectors. The button below takes you straight there. On Claude Code, run /mcp instead and choose to add a server.

Choose Add custom connector
Paste the URL above. Name it Dovey. Leave every advanced field empty; Claude fills those in on its own.

Sign in and allow
Claude opens a Dovey page asking whether to give it access. Sign in if you are signed out, then choose Allow. You land back in Claude with the connector ready.

Ask for an ad
Start a chat, switch the Dovey connector on, and ask. A good first request is “what is in my Dovey brand kit?” to confirm it is talking to your workspace.
