TLDR:
- Claude cannot open the Meta Ad Library. With Dovey connected it can search 100,000+ ads by meaning, open any advertiser's account, and count angles, formats and run times.
- Ask questions, not keywords: "Which angles perform best for fitness apps?" returns a Dovey chart with the sample size; "Sweetgreen ads" opens the account.
- Trust run time and versions, not vibes. Dovey tells Claude to say when a sample is under 20 ads and never to invent a CTR.
- Turn a top performer into a brief: ask Claude for the structure (hook, angle, offer, proof), then have Dovey remix it for your product.
- Every ad Claude cites through Dovey links back to its Ad Library page, so you can check it.
Why not just ask Claude?
Ask Claude "what are the best fitness app ads right now" without tools and you get a well-written essay from training data: plausible, undated, unverifiable. The Meta Ad Library is where the truth lives, and Claude cannot browse it. Connect it to an index of the library and the same question returns real ads, with start dates and version counts, from this week.
How do I connect Claude to the ads data?
Claude cannot browse the Meta Ad Library on its own, and its web search returns articles about ads, not the ads. The fix is a connector: Dovey's server speaks MCP, the protocol Claude uses for tools, so once it is added Claude can search ads, open an advertiser's account, count what runs and find creators as if they were its own abilities.
- Open Claude, then Settings, then Connectors, and choose "Add custom connector".
- Paste the address:
https://api.makedovey.com/mcp - Sign in to Dovey when Claude asks. A free account works for search; the agent and creator lists are on a plan.
- Start a new chat. The Dovey tools appear under the connector's name; you do not have to call them by name.
In Claude Code, it is one line: claude mcp add --transport http dovey https://api.makedovey.com/mcp.
What questions work?
Three kinds, and Claude picks the right tool for each.
A search. A category, a brand, a city, a format. Claude returns a grid of ads, top performers first.
skincare ads with a before and after
Sweetgreen ads
fitness app ads in Spanish
A question over the data. Claude counts across the index and answers with a chart or a table, and it says how many ads the number rests on.
Which angles perform best for fitness apps?
What share of supplement ads are video, and does video run longer than stills?
Who runs the most GLP-1 ads, and what offer do they lead with?
A question about one ad. Claude opens the ad in full: the script, every tag, the sibling versions and what differs.
What is the script of the second one, and why do you think it works?
How do I open a competitor's account?
Type the brand, or paste its website:
Open hungryroot.com's ads, top performers first, and tell me what they lead with.
Claude fetches the account, and answers with the ads and a short read: the angles they run most, the offers, the share of video, the creators visible in the creatives.
Those are from the index on September 24, 2026; each links to its Ad Library page.
How do I read what comes back?
Two numbers carry the meaning: days running and versions. Meta advertisers turn off what does not work within days, so an ad at 200 days with 12 versions has been paying for itself for seven months and the brand keeps making more of it. Claude is instructed to rank by these, to say "view based" and "of the index" where it matters, and to state the sample size when a number rests on fewer than 20 ads. If it says "3 of 5 ads", believe the 5.
What it will not give you is a CTR, a CPA or a spend for an ordinary ad. Meta does not publish them, and Claude is told not to invent them.
How do I turn a winner into a brief?
Take the top-performing Fitbod ad. Give me its structure: hook, angle, offer, proof, CTA. Then write the same structure for a running app for beginners, with three hook options.
Claude reads the ad (including the video's spoken hook and scenes if it has been watched), lays out the structure, and writes the version. Or ask Dovey to remix it directly: the Remix button on any card makes a design in your brand from the ad's structure.
A weekly routine
Ten minutes, Monday:
What started running in my category this week? Anything with more than three versions already?
Compare my three competitors' active ads: count, share of video, the angle each leads with.
Give me three hooks from this week's top performers, rewritten for my product.
FAQ
Can Claude access the Meta Ad Library directly?
No. Claude cannot browse the library, and its web search returns articles about ads rather than the ads. A connector to an index of the library gives it the ads themselves, with dates.
Is the data current?
The index is refreshed daily for tracked advertisers and grows with every search. Every ad shows its start date and whether it is still active, and links to its Ad Library page.
Does Claude know which ads perform best?
It knows how long each has run and how many versions the advertiser made, which are the public signals of an ad that works. Meta publishes no performance numbers for ordinary ads, and Claude is instructed not to invent them.
