Cursor supports MCP servers over HTTP and has a one-click install for them. Checked on September 24, 2026.

TLDR:

Cursor installs Dovey from a deep link in one click; the sign-in opens in the browser.
By hand it is three lines in .cursor/mcp.json: mcpServers, dovey, url https://api.makedovey.com/mcp.
Dovey's tools then show up in the agent's tool list; ask in the chat and Cursor picks the tool.
Put the file in a project to share it with the team; put it in ~/.cursor to have it everywhere.

What the connector gives the assistant

Dovey is an MCP server. Connected, the assistant gets the same tools Dovey has: search the Meta Ad Library by meaning, open any advertiser's account, ask questions over the ads (angles, hooks, formats, run times, with sample sizes), read one ad in full (copy, versions, video transcript), find TikTok and Instagram creators by topic with their numbers, bookmark ads and save creators to lists. The assistant calls the tools; Dovey does the reading. Every ad it cites links back to its Ad Library page.

The steps

Click "Add to Cursor" on the connectors page once you are signed in, or add it by hand below.
By hand: create .cursor/mcp.json in the project (or ~/.cursor/mcp.json for every project) with {"mcpServers": {"dovey": {"url": "https://api.makedovey.com/mcp"}}}
Open Cursor Settings, MCP. Dovey appears; click to sign in. A free account works for search.
In the agent chat, ask. The tools are on by default once the server is connected.

FAQ

Does it use my Cursor model credits?

The model call does; the Dovey call uses Dovey credits (ten a month free, then a plan).

Windsurf, VS Code, other editors?

Any MCP client that supports HTTP servers takes the same address. The JSON above works in most of them.
