Claude Code speaks MCP natively, so Dovey is a one-line install. Checked on September 24, 2026.

TLDR:

  • One command adds Dovey to Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http dovey https://api.makedovey.com/mcp
  • The first call opens a browser sign-in to Dovey; after that the tools are available in every session.
  • Ask in plain words in the terminal; the Dovey tools appear as dovey_search_ads, dovey_find_creators and the rest.
  • Scope it to a project with --scope project so a teammate gets it from the repo's .mcp.json.

What the connector gives the assistant

Dovey is an MCP server. Connected, the assistant gets the same tools Dovey has: search the Meta Ad Library by meaning, open any advertiser's account, ask questions over the ads (angles, hooks, formats, run times, with sample sizes), read one ad in full (copy, versions, video transcript), find TikTok and Instagram creators by topic with their numbers, bookmark ads and save creators to lists. The assistant calls the tools; Dovey does the reading. Every ad it cites links back to its Ad Library page.

The steps

  1. In a terminal, run: claude mcp add --transport http dovey https://api.makedovey.com/mcp
  2. Start Claude Code and ask anything about ads. The first tool call opens a browser window to sign in to Dovey; a free account works for search.
  3. Check it is there with claude mcp list or /mcp inside a session.

Sharing it with a team

Add it with --scope project and Claude Code writes the server into the repo's .mcp.json. Everyone who opens the project gets the connector and signs in with their own account.

Which transport does Dovey use?

Streamable HTTP at the address above. No stdio wrapper, no npm package.

Where are the credentials kept?

Claude Code stores the OAuth token in its own keychain entry. Dovey never sees your Anthropic key and Claude never sees your Dovey key.

Can I remove it?

claude mcp remove dovey. The Dovey account is untouched.
