TLDR:

  • Gemini's consumer app takes no custom connectors, so it cannot search TikTok or Instagram for creators. Dovey does the finding; Gemini does the vetting and the writing.
  • Get the creators from Dovey's search (free for the first results), copy the cards, paste into Gemini with the prompts below.
  • Ask Gemini to rank Dovey's cards on view-based engagement, consistency and views per follower, and to flag anything under 1% views per follower.
  • Save the prompts as a Gem so the Dovey to Gemini workflow is one paste next time.
  • Gemini drafts outreach; you send it. Dovey never messages a creator.

What Gemini can and cannot do here

Gemini is strong at the part after the data: reading thirty captions and saying what a creator is about, ranking a table, drafting a message in a voice you give it. What it cannot do is see the platforms. Asked for "fitness creators on TikTok" it produces handles from memory, some stale, some invented. So bring the data.

How do I get the ads data into Gemini?

Gemini's consumer app does not take custom connectors, so it cannot query the index directly. The working pattern is two windows: Dovey for the data, Gemini for the thinking.

  1. Run the search in Dovey (sign up to see the results, with a 3-day free trial). Keep the default Sort: Top.
  2. Select the cards you want to reason about and copy the text (advertiser, days running, versions, hook, copy). Or ask Dovey's agent the question first and copy its answer, which includes the numbers and the ad ids.
  3. Paste into Gemini with the prompt below. Gemini is good at the synthesis: patterns across twenty hooks, a brief, a rewrite in your voice.
  4. For a recurring workflow, save the prompt as a Gem so the instructions persist.

If you use Gemini through the API or an agent framework that supports MCP, the same connector address works there: https://api.makedovey.com/mcp.

The workflow

  1. In Dovey's creator search, type the topic: "creators talking about protein powder". Set the constraints in words ("under 50k followers", "with a public email").
  2. Copy the results. Each card carries the handle, platform, followers, median views, engagement rate and basis, consistency, paid posts, top posts, and the ads the creator appears in.
  3. Paste into Gemini with this:

Here are creators with their numbers. Rank them for a $500 UGC test for a protein powder brand. Use view-based engagement, consistency and views per follower; flag anyone under 1% views per follower as suspect. Do not estimate rates. Give me the top five and one sentence each on why.

  1. For the shortlist, go back to Dovey and open a creator's details for their transcripts, then paste those:

From these three transcripts, how does this creator introduce a product, and do they mention price? Write a 60-word brief for a video in their style.

  1. Outreach:

Draft a first message under 80 words to @handle about one 30-second video, naming their post about pre-workouts. Ask what they charge for one video.

Make it a Gem

Save the ranking prompt and the outreach prompt as a Gem named "UGC vetting". Next week it is: search in Dovey, copy, paste, done.

What to watch for

Gemini will happily fill gaps. If the pasted data has no rate, it may propose one; tell it not to. If a creator has no view counts (some Instagram posts), the engagement is follower based and the card says so; make sure Gemini keeps that label.

FAQ

Can Gemini connect to Dovey directly?

Not the consumer app. If you use Gemini through the API or an agent framework that supports MCP, the connector address works there.

Is copying the cards enough data for Gemini?

Yes for ranking and outreach. The cards carry the computed numbers, the basis, the top posts and the ads a creator has appeared in. For what a creator says, add the transcripts from the creator's details.
